CEC Houston welcomes Alex Van Duzer, P.E., as a Principal in its Civil/Site practice.
Alex brings 18 years of varied experience in engineering, construction, and development to his new role at CEC. He’s worked in all areas of municipal, residential, and site development, covering everything from entitlements and planning to engineering, permitting, and construction. His background includes positions as a construction administrator, designer, planner, and project manager for projects in retail, residential, industrial, public works, commercial, and historical restoration.
With a strong understanding of the greater Houston area and its regulations, Alex has handled feasibility studies, land acquisition analyses, and designs for erosion control, earthwork, and stormwater and utility facilities. He’s taken on responsibilities like permitting, design, project coordination, construction management, and project closeout across Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arizona, Missouri, Arkansas, and Kansas.
He also has hands-on experience with inverted siphons, regional detention facilities, floodplain mitigation, and phased projects. For 10 years, Alex served as District Engineer for several Municipal Utility Districts in the Houston area, focusing on long-range planning, developer coordination, public outreach, bond issues, and rehabilitation project design.
Alex is a professional engineer, licensed in Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, and Oklahoma. He is a graduate of the University of Houston, earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and is a member of the Commercial Real Estate Association of Montgomery County and the Urban Land Institute.
