Senior Principal and California Operations Lead

CEC is pleased to announce that Jeff Shepherd has moved into the role of California Operations Lead, which consists of our offices in Sacramento and San Diego. Jeff began his new role on May 1, taking over the position from Darrell Thompson, who has led operations in the state since 2021. Jeff is located in CEC’s Sacramento office.
Jeff, a senior principal, joined CEC in 2018 when we acquired Oklahoma City-based civil and solid waste engineering firm Shepherd Engineering Design Company, Inc. (SEDCo), the firm he founded in 2004. A registered solid waste engineer in 12 states, Jeff has more than three decades of experience in the greater Midwest, Texas, and Pacific Northwest having held technical and managerial positions within the solid waste industry and as a consultant.
We are confident that Jeff’s enthusiasm, diverse technical background, expansive professional network, understanding of our core markets, and previous experience leading his own business provide the right combination of skills to advance our California operations and capitalize on the wealth of new opportunities the state has.
CEC would like to thank Darrell Thompson for his work in building our California operations. Darrell recently transitioned into his new role as CEC’s Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) submarket group lead.

Established in 2021, CEC’s California operations solidified our nationwide coverage. The opening of an office in Sacramento, followed shortly thereafter by the opening of the San Diego office enabled us to better serve some of our national clients who already have operations in the state, while providing opportunities to bring CEC’s multidisciplinary expertise to new clients looking for fresh ideas and innovation.
